Like Toshiba, Sony has shown at CES 2012 the new 24 inch and 46 inch 3D TVs that do not require glasses. Unlike other 3D TVs that do not require glasses, Sony TVs have integrated an technology that provides multiple viewing angles, an image depth visible even from the side, and the autostereoscopic panels on the SONY stand use a subtle 3D effect. For this type of TV the distance at which 3D effects are visible is very important. In this case, for the 24-inch model the ideal distance is 0.60 m, and for the 48 inch TV the recommended distance is around 3 m.
Of the two models, the 48 inch 3D TV offers an improved content, due to the impressive 4K resolution that renders a high level of quality for the 3D image. The smaller TV does not provide such an accurate image because the Full HD resolution is not sufficient to display a clean 3D image.
Although it seems incredible how 3D TVs without glasses have evolved, Sony’s presence at CES has demonstrated that this technology is already recording a visible progress.
